Guidelines for Non-Tenure-Eligible Research Professor Appointments (NTER)

The policy for Non-Tenure-Eligible Research professors (NTER) appears in the following sections of the Faculty Handbook:

As detailed in 3.3.3, units may make NTER appointments only if college and department documents include policy sections on the following: defining NTER positions (expectation for the terminal degree in the field, specifications on the independence of the research); recruitment and appointment processes, including conversions for current employees; review, renewal and promotion procedures; and departmental rights and responsibilities (voting, committees, etc.).
