Dr. Susan Arendt is the inaugural Director of Iowa State Online, Faculty Fellow for Online Learning, and Professor of Hospitality Management at Iowa State University. In her role as inaugural Director, Arendt supports the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching's (CELT) mission of collaborative leadership for developing a shared vision for online learning at Iowa State University. She works in partnership with colleges and other stakeholders to enhance and expand the online learning portfolio at Iowa State.
Arendt has been a faculty member at Iowa State since 2004. Prior to her appointment in CELT, she served as Associate Chair for Undergraduate Academic Affairs in the Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management Department. As hospitality management faculty member, Arendt has taught more than ten different graduate and undergraduate courses using a variety of delivery modes, including online.
Arendt is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an accomplished teacher, researcher, and mentor. She has an extensive peer-reviewed publication record focused on human resource management in the hospitality industry.
Arendt is a native of Iowa and earned her B.S. in Dietetics and Ph.D. in Foodservice Management from Iowa State University. Her M.S. is from Rush University, Chicago, in Clinical Nutrition.
